OUR FOUNDER
Jaunanisa Jordan is a special needs parent advocate, digital resource creator, and the founder of Rooted & Empowered — a support platform built for parents who are tired of navigating the special education system alone.
With over two decades of lived experience raising a child with a Specific Learning Disorder and Intellectual Disability, Jaunanisa brings something no certification can teach — she has been in the room. She knows what it feels like to sit across from a school team, to fight for accommodations, and to find your footing again after a hard meeting.
Before founding Rooted & Empowered, Nisa spent over a decade in corporate leadership — managing teams at Amazon, leading branch operations at Regions Bank, and supporting executive leadership at her local church. She holds a Master of Management and an Advanced Diploma in Biblical Studies from Samford University.
But her most important credential is the one she earned at the IEP table — as Nick's mom.
Rooted & Empowered exists because Nisa knows what it means to need a trusted friend who understands the paperwork, the meetings, and the spiritual weight of this journey. She built the resource she wished she'd had.

Nick is the reason Rooted & Empowered exists. His disability became capabilities that are limitless. Watching him navigate a world that wasn't always built for him — with grace, with determination, and with that smile — is what gets me back up every time this journey gets heavy.
He didn't just teach me how to advocate. He taught me who I was built to be.
