Be Present for The Small Wins

Enjoy Those Moments

Sometimes we spend so much time looking ahead that we forget to appreciate what's happening right in front of us.

We're waiting for the next milestone.

The next therapy.

The next doctor's appointment.

The next breakthrough.

The next school year.

The next "big" accomplishment.

In the process, we can unintentionally rush past the very moments we'll one day wish we had paused to enjoy.

Maybe today your child fed themselves without help.

Maybe they sat through an entire movie.

Maybe they laughed uncontrollably with their siblings.

Maybe they made eye contact a little longer than yesterday.

Maybe they asked for help instead of becoming frustrated.

Maybe they simply had a really good day.

To someone else, those moments might seem ordinary.

To you, they're everything.

Celebrate them anyway.

Don't wait until graduation, a diagnosis changes, or life finally feels "normal" to experience joy.

Joy is happening now.

It's in the smile across the dinner table.

It's in hearing your child belly laugh.

It's in watching siblings build memories together.

It's in the quiet car ride home after a successful appointment.

It's in the bedtime hugs.

It's in the ordinary Tuesday afternoon that doesn't make it into a scrapbook but somehow becomes one of the memories you'll cherish forever.

Life has a way of convincing us that the next thing is more important than the present thing.

But time keeps moving.

Children grow.

Routines change.

The moments we assumed would always be there quietly become memories.

That's why I'm encouraging you today to slow down.

Put the phone down for a few minutes.

Watch the movie with them.

Sit on the floor and build the blocks.

Laugh at the silly jokes.

Celebrate the tiny victories that no one else understands.

Because one day you'll realize they were never tiny at all.

They were the moments that built your story.

Be present.

Not because every day is easy.

But because every day holds something worth remembering.

Those small wins deserve to be celebrated.

And so do you.
